Why Did You Decide to Become a Periodontist?

Doctor Louie as a young boy in blue shirt

Ever since he was just a youngster, Dr. Louie enjoyed tinkering with various items, such as bikes and computers. He liked how intricately complex they were internally, but when properly assembled, they functioned flawlessly. Likewise, when Dr. Louie was in dental school, he was drawn to the level of attention, detail, and precision required for complex gum, bone, and dental implant surgeries. He wanted to be able to properly address gum disease, since the gums and bone form the foundation for our teeth, which we use everyday to eat and smile with! Because Dr. Louie desired to save and maintain his patients' natural teeth, he decided to become a periodontist.

Although Dr. Louie primarily works with adults, he also has a soft heart for the young kiddos. Dr. Louie is available to diagnose and treat any early gum or bone issues that they may have. He also often removes wisdom teeth from teenagers under IV moderate sedation.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?
